As if conquering the rap game and putting Detroit back on the map wasn’t good enough, Big Sean is set to launch his own clothing line called Aura Gold. The fashion and lifestyle brand is set to debut later this week in Las Vegas at the ProjectMVMNT convention.
Big Sean said of his new line in a recent press release: “Even though I have a lot to learn about fashion and the industry, I do know what I like and the small details that make something stand out to me. I look forward to evolving the line with more colors, fabrications and offerings to show the other dimensions of my style progression over time.” Vibe will the first to reveal some of the pieces from the new line in its February/March style issue. The line will be comprised of T-shirts, hats, pants, sweatshirts, and jackets. No word of when it will be in stores, but I’m sure when it does arrive it will go fast.

It’s looking like 2013 will be the year of comebacks with Justin Timberlake and Destiny’s Child set to release new music. Both have been away for quite some time, with Justin Timberlake focusing on his acting career, Kelly Rowland trying her hand at music, Michelle Williams doing whatever it is that she’s doing with plays, and of course Beyonce being one of the hottest women in the game period. If you are one the millions of people who follow Beyonce’s official Tumblr page then you would know that Beyonce kindly treated her stans to new pictures of precious Blue Ivy on Christmas. While most were excited about the previous pictures of the back of her head or in the arms of Beyonce and Jay, this time B decided to show us Blue Ivy’s leg and Beyonce holding onto Blue Ivy, however you can’t see her face. While I am a Beyonce fan and I think Blue Ivy is adorable, I’m not pressed to see pictures of a leg,but I’m not judging. Not only did Beyonce post pictures of Blue, she also posted pics of Kelly Rowland, Solange and Juelz, a random pound cake and pictures of her on what looks to be a jet or plane of some sort. See the pictures after the jump. Continue reading “Beyonce Graces Us With New Pictures Of Blue Ivy” » (454)
I know your probably thinking why is a student who refused counseling based on sexual orientation getting paid for not doing her job? Julea Ward, a student of Eastern Michigan University was expelled from a counseling program because she denied counseling to gays and lesbians about their lifestyles. Ward refused to counsel gays and lesbians because of her religious beliefs and in doign so she was dismissed from the master’s degree counseling program. Because of her rebuff a lawsuit was filed by the Alliance Defense Fund in April 2009 on behalf of Julea Ward. Ward, who was in training to become a K-12 counselor said she referred the student to another counselor. However, the Universities policy prohibits discrimination and requires counseling students to use the code of ethics of the American Counseling Association. The Alliance Defense Fund asked the court to order Eastern Michigan University to change its counseling curriculum to allow counseling students to refer clients elsewhere on issues related to same sex relationships, abortion, and per-marital sex. Eastern Michigan had the decision to not waste anymore money and just pay the student with the money coming from the schools insurance company, Ward was rewarded $75,000 in the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. I almost want to say that Ms. Ward is in the wrong profession, especially with being a K-12 counselor. Most teens in high school are exploring their sexuality and are trying to find themselves, how is it fair not to counsel a student because they are doing something you don’t believe in? A counselor is there to be open minded and to help those who are seeking advice. School is already a harsh and uncertain environment as it is, counselors are there to help with decisions beyond secondary education and to help prepare students; how can you do that if you’re dismissing them or passing them to someone else? There are teens who are being bullied for their sexual orientation and even worse committing suicide because they live in fear and/or have mental health issues, like depressions or anxiety. I understand that we should not compromise our beliefs for the sake of employment, however counselors should be unbiased and encouraging regardless of whatever lifestyle a person may lead. (292)

Big Sean goes so hard for Detroit, whether it’s with his lyrics, clothing, comments, you know he is a “D-Boy”. To further his loyalty to the motor city, he’s teaming with Adidas Originals to release the “Detroit Player” limited edition sneaker. The shoe is a classic representation of Detroit with its red reptilian texture (yes, we love some Gator shoes), gold highlights, suede accents, and three stripes . Not since, Eminem debuted have we seen anyone as big as Big Sean in our city, but he is living proof that if you hold on to your dreams they will come true. Inside the shoe a message is written that says “I say I’m dreaming bigger than I’m living,” which is conformation to not be scared to go after what you want no matter how impossible it seems. Big Sean’s “Detroit Player” will be available December 1st, which is also the day he’s performing at the Palace of Auburn Hills; only 380 shoes have been made and will be for sale at Detroit’s Puffer Reds, so if you want to get on Big Sean’s level, you better start stacking some paper for this sneaker, I’m sure they will go fast.
