Positive Message OR Poor Taste? Fineassgirl Draya, Uses Whitney Houston For Clothing Line To Empower Others From Using Drugs

Now I love me some Draya but she has apparently upset several of her fans by posting a pic of the late and great Whitney Houston on a shirt from her Fineassgirls clothing line via Instagram on the famous 4/20 date to empower young people to say no to drugs.

 

After receiving a multitude of angry messages and comments from her followers she took the photo above down and added this one below to redeem and explain herself………

Below is a quote from a recent interview where Draya explains her motivation behind her clothing line. Is she really empowering today’s young woman?

“I just wanted to start something that could motivate girls. It’s like a confidence booster,” stated Draya, who recently heated things up for Urban Ink. “I’m lucky enough to hang around really good people, I have really amazing friends, and they’re also really beautiful and we take a lot of pride in looking how we look. We’re just trying to be all-around good people, so it’s just a movement for empowerment.”

Was Draya genuine and just in using Whitney’s face as a way to get people to say no to drugs or did she go to far in using the iconic Whitney Houston’s picture holding up a sign 20 years prior stating “say no to drugs” who also happen to pass away from the very message she is trying to promote? Was this just for controversy?

Do It: Big Sean To Launch Clothing Line

As if conquering the rap game and putting Detroit back on the map wasn’t good enough, Big Sean is set to launch his own clothing line called Aura Gold. The fashion and lifestyle brand is set to debut later this week in Las Vegas at the ProjectMVMNT convention.

Big Sean said of his new line in a recent press release: “Even though I have a lot to learn about fashion and the industry, I do know what I like and the small details that make something stand out to me. I look forward to evolving the line with more colors, fabrications and offerings to show the other dimensions of my style progression over time.” Vibe will the first to reveal some of the pieces from the new line in its February/March style issue. The line will be comprised of T-shirts, hats, pants, sweatshirts, and jackets. No word of when it will be in stores, but I’m sure when it does arrive it will go fast.

Adidas To Release Big Sean Limited Edition “Detroit Player” Sneaker

Big Sean goes so hard for Detroit, whether it’s with his lyrics, clothing, comments, you know he is a “D-Boy”.  To further his loyalty to the motor city, he’s teaming with Adidas Originals to release the “Detroit Player” limited edition sneaker. The shoe is a classic representation of Detroit with its red reptilian texture (yes, we love some Gator shoes), gold highlights, suede accents, and three stripes . Not since, Eminem debuted have we seen anyone as big as Big Sean in our city, but he is living proof that if you hold on to your dreams they will come true. Inside the shoe a message is written that says “I say I’m dreaming bigger than I’m living,” which is conformation to not be scared to go after what you want no matter how impossible it seems. Big Sean’s “Detroit Player” will be available December 1st, which is also the day he’s performing at the Palace of Auburn Hills; only 380 shoes have been made and will be for sale at Detroit’s Puffer Reds, so if you want to get on Big Sean’s level, you better start stacking some paper for this sneaker,  I’m sure they will go fast.

Ruthie Davis Designs $800 Sneakers For Blue Ivy

Blue Ivy Carter at the tender age of 8-months is truly stuntin’ in a pair of $800 handmade gym shoes courtesy of designer Ruthie Davis. Davis custom made the purple sneakers covered in Swarovski crystals for Blue and posted them on her Facebook page with the caption:

“Take a look at the Baby Ruthie’s I made especially for Beyonce and Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy… SO sweet ,right?”

$800 for a pair of sneakers may seem a bit much especially when she isn’t going to be in them long, but Beyonce and Jay-Z are worth an estimated $775 million so I’m sure $800 to them is pocket change. Celebrities spoil there kids with the best because they can afford it and maybe they want them to have more than what they had when they were young, but I hope that they are also instilling important values in them as well and encouraging them not be to materialistic. That being said Blue Ivy is one lucky baby, being the daughter of Beyonce and Jay-Z definitely has it’s perks. (338)

New York Fashion Week’s Apperances: KimYe, Tamar and Tyra

New York’s Fashion week is definitely here and all the reality TV starlets are making their rounds. The Marchesa show served a few celebrity appearances including Kanye and Kim, Tyra Banks and her new wig whom were all sitting pretty while previewing  the Spring 2013 line yesterday. Kim, dressed in the white fitted dress with the shaggy embellishment from the designer’s Spring 2012 collection seemed to turn heads while her right hand man wore his favorite denim get-up.

In a different look above with the fashion approval of her boo, Kim decided to change into a black and white Varsity jacket along with a fitted black skirt with a sheer panel for the Louise Goldin show that was created by the British designer.

Reality TV’s favorite sister, Tamar Braxton turned it out in this fitted leather dress and long fishtail braid as she werked the runway closing out the ELLE/Style360′s “Front Row Couture” Show.

Pucker up ladies!! It’s time to induct a new glamazon into the MAC Lipstick Hall of Fame!

Similar to the likes of international popstars, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, Harlem-bred rapper, Azealia Banks has been tapped to market a lipstick of her very own entitled “Yung Rapunxel,” an ode to her dark and lovely alterego. The shade is described as being a “dark, eggplant purple” and will only be available for a limited time so make sure all you lovelies keep in touch with www.maccosmetics.com to find out when you can rescue your perfect shade of “Yung Rapunxel” from a store near you.

In the meantime, however, here’s a thought.  MAC Cosmetics’ marketing team always tends to out-do itself when coming up with hot and clever names for their signature liplines.  Lady Gaga’s Viva Glam definitely got make-up lovers everywhere pumped to beat a face and color a lip, and in 2010, when Nicki Minaj dropped Pink Friday, dolls everywhere were running out of work, class, home, WHEREVER, to grab the limited edition before it sold out.  Needless to say, it’s bankable that Miss Banks shade (no pun intended) will do just as well especially with the mysterious but yet whimsical “Yung Rapunxel” tag behind it.  On the less celebritized side of things though, let’s say MAC picked YOU to advertise their latest lip shade?  What color would it be?  Something soft, pink, and girly with a touch of flashy neon similar to Nicki Minaj or something dark, fierce, and mischievous like Azealia? Furthermore, what would it be called?  Going the alterego route is always a win!! But hey, it can’t hurt to just be cute and simple as well.  Personally, my shade would be a deep rich daring red, and I’d call it…..COCAINE RED! That’s just me though!  What would you do?

Face Lace, designed by world renowned make up artist Phyllis Cohen, was a huge success in Paris during the autumn/winter 2012 catwalk shows back in February. Phyllis created these beautiful facial adornments for the Corrie Nielsen show you see displayed here. Chanel followed suit in their Fall 2012 show with sequin bedecked brows. This fascinating trend has catched the eye of many including the ever so eccentric Lady Gaga who has worn full facial and body lace to red carpet events. For a more subdue look but with the same effect, Cohen has created a collection of face lace for the daring fashionista!
