Transitioning from adolescence to womanhood is hard enough for most young ladies, and even moreso difficult when you’re in the spotlight! Some women do it with ease, transforming their talents as time moves on and making the right decisions to compliment their age and growth. Others seem to fall short, struggling to find the perfect balance between their stardom as a child and their new potential as an adult celebrity. Luckily, burgeoning singer and actress, Tiffany Evans seems to have adapted quite comfortably to her adult musical journey, and why should we be surprised?? Evans—-or “Miss Tiff” as she sometimes likes to be called—-seems to have fought all her life for success.
Born and raised in the Bronx borough of NYC and the seventh oldest of 10 children, Tiffany has definitely experienced her share of ups and downs, even admitting to living in a van for several years with her entire family when they were put out of their home. However, realities soon turned into dreams and dreams again into realities, when little Tiffany hit the “Star Search” stage at age 11, winning the Grand Champion title in the junior singer division and becoming the only performer in “Star Search” history to receive perfect five scores on all of her appearances. Next came, scattered album and single releases, a short stint with Matthew Knowles Music World Entertainment, and what we all most popularly know Tiffany for: acting! I can still hear Tiffany tearing down the church with her rendition of “Father Can You Hear Me” in Tyler Perry’s Diary of a Mad Black Woman. SANG GIRL!!!!
Now, 19, Miss Tiff is proud to proclaim that she is in fact “grown now”…so grown that she has been married for almost two years and is currently six months pregnant with a baby girl, due in October of this year. Last week, Tiffany sat down with Essence.com reporter, Derrick Bryson Taylor, to discuss married life, her hopes for her new EP, Take 1, and also her latest single, “If You Love Me,” which is available in stores now.
