Dwyane’s Wade’s Ex-Wife Arrested After Attempted Abduction of Their Children

Siovaughn Funches-Wade (Mugshot)

Ok, so while the baby mama of Miami Heat player, Chris Bosh is attempting to take her ex to court to get more child support for their 3-year-old daughter, Siovaughn Funches-Wade, ex-wife and baby mother of Bosh’s teammate, Dwyane Wade is taking matters into her own hands…LITERALLY!!!  This past Father’s Day weekend, Funches-Wade was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted child abduction, two counts of unlawful visitation interference and one count of resisting arrest after failing to turn over Wade’s two boys to his sister so that the children could make an early flight to Miami in order to spend Father’s Day with their dad.

Wade’s attorney, James Pritikin, filed an emergency motion with a Chicago judge yesterday (June 19) to suspend  Wade’s ex-wife’s right to visitation with their two children.  Wade has had full custody of both boys since March 2011 despite Funches-Wade’s appeals.  A hearing to determine Funches-Wade’s visitation rights was set for June 26, 2012 which could possibly be the date of Game 7 in the Finals.

According to the court filing, the two boys were to be picked up by Wade’s sister around noon Saturday so they could make a 3:05 p.m. flight from Chicago to Miami in order to be in South Florida for the entirety of Father’s Day.  Wade’s sister got no response at the home, and after “several hours,” the sheriff’s office was called to send someone to the scene. The filing also

Dwyane Wade and his two sons

reported Funches-Wade attempted to leave the home without the children when one of the responding deputies tried taking her into custody. The boys, at that time, were inside the home with another woman whom one of Wade’s sons claimed hit him in the back of his head.  Wade eventually hired a private jet to bring his sons home early Sunday. The woman inside the home, Nadgee Alarcon, was also charged with one count of resisting arrest.

Records show Funches-Wade was transferred to a hospital after the incident on Saturday. She told officers she was experiencing shortness of breath and thought she was having an asthma attack.  Funches-Wade’s bond was set at $10,000 which she paid Monday.  She’s set to appear in court again in August.

Now I am a tad bit skeptical about Chris Bosh’s parenting abilities, but from my observation of Dwyane Wade, I think he is a prettty stand-up dad.  His sons are always with him, and he recently finished writing a book primarily about fatherhood and the custody fight for his sons which will be released September 4, 2012. In the excerpts I’ve read from this recent court filing, Wade is solely about the protection and well-being of his boys, writing:

“Once again, S.L. has used our minor children as the proverbial pawns in this contentious dissolution of marriage action.” (Wade wrote in the filing, using initials to protect identities but referring to his ex-wife. ) “This court must take action to protect our minor children from further exposure to the present environment S.L. creates while they are in her care and preventing S.L. from exercising her parenting time in a manner that is harmful to our children.”

Now we all know that there are two sides to every story, but it seems that to me that Siovaughn is still battling with the demons stemming from her ex’s relationship with Gabrielle Union not to mention the loss of custody of her sons.  However, crazy acts like what she pulled last weekend are only pushing her further away from her sanity and her children. Despite it all though, Dwyane Wade is keeping his head up, all the while playing his heart out in these Finals games against OKC…great role model to his sons, I think.  I am praying for that entire family…
