Should I or Shouldn’t I Wear White to a Wedding?

Yes  ’tis the season for the wedding invites! So many myths and old time sayings about what is or isn’t appropriate to wear to weddings are starting to become non existent. Of course, don’t step out showing 85%-30% of skin but don’t be afraid to STEP OUT. Through my 27 years, I’ve heard “You can’t dare wear white to a wedding” or “You betta not out do the bride and bridal party wearing that”. I recently asked a couple of friends for their advice in regards to wearing white to a wedding and majority of the responses was “WHATEVER”! As I was cyber shopping I came across dresses that I thought would be a good choice to wear for a wedding occasion.

 Herve Leger Belted Bandage Dress

Aidan Mattox Niteline Fringed Cocktail Dress

Sue Wong Beaded Dress

Vera Wang Tulip Skirt Organza Dress

In the year of 2012 do you think wearing white to a wedding is a disrespectful color choice? Should the bride be concerned about what you’re wearing on their special day? (781)

    Dear Mi Letisse,

I couldnt agree more – the bride will ALWAYS be the center of attention no matter what color of dress you wear. And if white or ivory are the colors you find that suit you best for the day…I say go for it! Love your blog :) Keep writing!
